It’s a treasure that Cox knew was within his artistic reach ever since early spring 2023, when he was led to the path of creating this mural for the Zoo. The mural has given new life to the stretch along Forest Avenue at Irving Street, as well as to his own deep sense of community and belonging. Just last year, Cincinnati Zoo created two community projects at Rockdale Academy in Avondale, the Zoo’s home, which provided opportunities for the Cincinnati Zoo and young adults from Groundwork Ohio River Valley to improve safety for students. The Cincinnati Zoo Botanical Garden has a history of being committed to supporting its surrounding neighborhoods and inspiring the next generation to care about community and the environment. “The building stands about 30 feet tall, and the mural was executed on the upper section of the wall.” “It is 14 feet tall by 135 feet long,” said Cox when he described the mural. The psychedelic mural features vibrant and surreal colors with swirling patterns, intricate details, and a dreamlike quality creating an otherworldly and mind-bending aesthetic. With the completion of his mural on the Zoo’s new elephant barn, which spans the entire side that faces Forest Avenue., it’s another example of how Cox’s work impressively brings the art into the community. There were other things about management but this topped it all.Local artist, Cedric Michael Cox has infused his formidable brand of visual art into the largest habitat in Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s history. Duke was already transferred into the name of leasee. We go in to talk to the "manager." The apartment did NOT have FLOORING. We were only a few minutes away from apartment and received a text from "manager" stating "did so and so contact you about your apartment not being available to move in today?" Never got a phone call or even a notification of a voicemail. Signed the lease electronically yesterday. By this time, we had a different building number and apartment number. They contacted us later that day to say the apartment would be ready to move in on August 4th. They said they were going to do a walk through of the apartments to see which ones were vacant. We went to the lease office to talk to someone. July 29th received an email stating the manager was no longer in management. Was told that the flooring still needed to put in the apartment. Was told the apartment would be available at the end of July. You can find much nicer places for cheaper!Īpproved for a 2 bedroom apartment at the end of June. There are just SO many things about this place that make it just a waste of your money. So you need to buy a lamp for like every room. Also majority of the rooms in my house don’t have ceiling fans or lights. When i moved in I had to deep clean everything myself because things were still visibly dirty, like my sealing fan was caked in dust. dated appliances, dated features, dated cabinets that they just slap some paint on, rusted sinks and drains, very old windows, AC units no central air. It also just really bothered be how they were advertising themselves as newly renovated but these places don’t look like nothing but new paint (awful paint job btw, they painted over my electrical box to the point where you’re unable to open it) and floors have happened. And they never fixed or replaced it, I’ve been here 9 months now. When I moved in they were too cheap to fix a closet door the previous renter punched a hole through so they just flipped it the other way hoping i wouldn’t notice. I still had to use my AC during the winter, which is a unit btw they do NOT have central air. You can’t control the heat and they have it up way too high for way too long and it gets unbearably hot. Spiders, centipedes, stink bugs, beetles, mosquitos, you name it. None of my windows have screens on them and the doors are not properly fitted or sealed so bugs get in. I have lived here for 9 months, i’ll be moving out soon, thank god. I live in a duplex, which was supposed to be one of the nicer places they offer. It’s actually quite disgusting how much they charge for how little they are willing to renovate and improve the apartments. They’re apartments are not NEARLY as nice as they are advertised.
